Purpose and goal

The project "XR Sweden" is a pre-study aimed at investigating a Swedish innovation platform for XR (Extended Reality). The goal is to prepare a national readiness within XR through a research-based and future-oriented approach and with a broad interpretation of XR. The project will develop actionable recommendations for how a national XR Sweden platform can be implemented and contribute to Sweden taking a niche leading role in XR globally.

Expected effects and result

The pre-study "XR Sweden" is expected to have several significant impacts and outcomes. We formulate strategies and create conditions for a Swedish ecosystem to become world-class. By mapping how needs and strengths are connected in a national infrastructure, regional, national, and international effects will be demonstrated. This contributes to sustainable societal development by transforming key industries within society, healthcare, and industry.

Planned approach and implementation

The pre-study "XR Sweden" is led by Visual Sweden, which, with extensive experience in the field, has a hypothesis on how a national innovation platform can be established and financed. The hypothesis will be evolved and strengthened together with participating project partners, but we will also invite additional stakeholders. Through mapping of competencies and roles, a strategic future analysis, and partnership models, the project will make a recommendation for implementation.
