Purpose and goal
The goal of the product Weld (www.weld.io) is to radically simplify app prototyping/´wireframing´ of mobile and web apps. The project period for this R&D project was 2014-06-16 - 2014-10-30 (after time extension). The goal of the project was to validate both technological solutions and market interest for three new features: 1. Reusable symbols 2. Discussion system 3. Export of HTML code (changed during the project to ´Export of responsive HTML design´).
Results and expected effects
The following are the results for the three work packages: 1. Reusable symbols: interviews conducted, customer demand summarized, launched a first simpler implementation. 2. Discussion system: interviews conducted, customer demand summarized, two prototypes developed, the service is not launched yet. 3. Export of responsive HTML design: interviews conducted, customer demand summarized, two technical tracks examined, several prototypes built, one implementation launched.
Approach and implementation
Each of the three work packages contained customer interviews, interaction, development of prototypes, estimates of customer and business value. We conducted 24 interview sessions with about 40 people total. The participants were mainly from consultancy agencies such as HiQ, inUse, Fjord and Comprend - but also product companies Klarna, Instabridge and Spotify. Several prototypes were built and tested during the project.
