Purpose and goal

How can an innovation, WeC, a rotatable and height-adjustable toilet, be used to improve the functionality of the bathroom for users and how can it improve a good working environment for healthcare and caregivers? Our user tests show that WeC provides increased functionality and independence in small bathrooms and large care and care bathrooms. During the project, the product has been further developed to meet the usability requirements that have emerged in terms of function, design, durability and safety. The work situation has been significantly improved for care givers using WeC.

Expected results and effects

WeC makes it easier and safer to use the bathroom and increases accessibility for people with special needs. WeC also improves working conditions for caregivers, who get a better working environment, who can stand in good working position with less load and torque. We have looked at how WeC fits in with Swedish and Nordic regulations and examined how we can influence the regulations. The launch and sale of WeC will begin in early 2020.

Planned approach and implementation

Eight prototypes have been installed with users in different parts of Sweden. During the test period, WeC was further developed through user participation. In our studies we have had different types of bathrooms and seen how WeC works in different bathroom solutions as well as with users with different needs. Interviews and questionnaires have been conducted according to a defined method. Verifying product functionality through a well-executed user study has resulted in a well-tested and functional product.
