The goal was to get a number of ideas to work more with, we received 19 and got a quite a good response from civil society.

Results and expected effects

New solutions that will save and make use of an energy source that is not currently used, consisting of warm waste water. Thereby creating value for society in the form of new innovations. We also wanted to create a larger regional engagement from the public. In the competition we received 19 suggestions and many of them was inspiring new thinking and we will try to support them going forward. Creating a regional commitment was harder than we thought.

Approach and implementation

We started with a regional meeting in our energy network including necessary demand owners. Timeschedule, problem definition etc was decided. Thereafter a marketing plan was done. To attract people to the workshops, at the mills and the university, we took the help of the municipallity business coordinators. Thanks to them we came in contact with several regional players that we have not had contact with before. We also used local media(newspaper and tv).
