Important results from the project

The project produced several significant results by making Älvrummet visible as a potential meeting place and by initiating a process where the values, identity and future possibilities of the place began to be widely discussed. The project succeeded in activating the place and awakening local dialogue, and identified high expectations regarding urban greenery. The project led to new collaborations, strengthened local participation and increased conditions for continued development in Gällivare.

Expected long term effects

The project is expected to have a long-term impact by inspiring a way of working where co-creation, nature-based solutions and local governance become central to Gällivare´s development strategy. It can contribute to stronger local ownership, dialogue between actors and a more robust green structure. But the municipality is required to develop its communication, internal capacity and ability to balance traditional urban greenery with more experimental methods to fully realize the effects.

Approach and implementation

The project was implemented according to plan and the schedule could be followed. The team grew significantly, but the collaboration worked very well all the way, which strengthened both the implementation and the quality of the work. Our presence on site in Älvrummet created many spontaneous contacts and led to new collaborations with local actors. The collaboration with the municipality worked well and provided support to the process, even if some practical challenges arose along the way.
