Important results from the project
ICSE, the International Conference on Software Engineering, is the premier software engineering conference, providing a forum for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, research, experiences, trends and concerns in the field of software engineering. In 2018 ICSE celebrated 40th anniversary, and 50 years of Software engineering - 50 years of tremendously successful promotion of research, education and practices in software engineering.
Expected long term effects
The aim of the conference was to gather the key researchers in software engineering, experts from industry, and doctoral students. ICSE 2018 was the largest conference in software engineering ever, with almost 1800 participants, of which 85% were international, more than 400 participants from industry and 500 graduate students.
Approach and implementation
ICSE 2018 was very successful, and exceeded all the goals that were defined. ICSE 2018 was the best conference within Software Engineering ever, according to IEEE Computer Science. ICSE 2018 had 1,778 participants, 400+ from industry, 500+ PhD students, all numbers are record figures. ICSE 2018 had exceptional speakers, both international and Swedish. International participants were impressed by cooperation between industry and the academy in Sweden.
