Purpose and goal
Perform validation with a focus on deeptech ideas that come from research at Kartolinska Institutet. 20 projects of which 60% deeptech is expected to receive support. The goal is that the work will result in at least 14 patent applications and 5 start-ups during the project period.
Expected effects and result
That 10-20 promising ideas have been identified and validated by the Innovation Office and that some of these have led to the establishment of new companies. Other effects are that researchers and innovators at KI have established contacts with entrepreneurs who can help convert ideas into new companies. Also that researchers have received training in and experience of commercializing research results.
Planned approach and implementation
The validation work is led by business advisors at the Innovation Office. The VFT funds are used primarily to finance consulting activities in areas such as law, regulations for market approval, prototyping, market research, etc. Activities that researchers in academia do not normally work with but are crucial for commercialization.
