Purpose and goal

The project aims to enable efficient verification and validation of ideas arising from activities at Luleå University of Technology as part of the innovation support offer available at the university. With a solid process methodology and associated decision routine to qualify ideas at different stages, the project will carry out validation for approximately 50 or more ideas during the period. The effect we want to achieve with this is that 10 ideas move forward towards utilization and that VFT funds have been distributed equally over the inflow of ideas.

Expected effects and result

We expect the verification work at the university to effectively increase the degree of maturity of ideas and results from research and education so that they come closer to being put to use during the project. Furthermore, we expect that the VFT funds will be used in an equal way for all the university´s students and employees. The effects will be that the ideas that prove viable after verification take the next step towards utilization, such as incorporation/organization, incubation, license or other appropriate form

Planned approach and implementation

The activities in the project are closely connected with the consultancy carried out by the innovation office. Thus, the influx of new ideas will be prioritized according to current routines, VFT meetings will be held to decide on VFT funds according to established procedures and follow-up of VFT decisions will be made. We will also investigate how deep tech ideas can be further supported using VFT funds during the project
