Reference number
Coordinator LINKÖPINGS UNIVERSITET HOLDING AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 2 517 365
Project duration January 2014 - December 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Researchers and students at Linköping University produce knowledge, which may play an important role in developing industry and employment opportunities, both for the region and for the nation. There has been a gap from the generation of such knowledge and more mature stages where companies can grow organically, or with venture capital. The aim of this project is to bridge this gap.

Results and expected effects

107 innovation ideas have been studied during 2014, and 54 of them has been elaborated and refined within the VFT1 program. This has resulted in 12 spinoff companies in fields like semiconductor electronics, visualization of medical data, mail client, video processing and traffic security. These companies are promising, with some of them already accepted for the business incubator LEAD and some of them are under evaluation for this.

Approach and implementation

The VFT1 project is and integrated part of the Innovation Support at InnovationskontorEtt. The activities are carried out in dialogue mode between the researchers/students and the Business Developer. Financial support is given in two-stage mode: the first quite informal, and the second more in line with a grant application. The project process is now stable in the big picture, but still being refined in details
