Important results from the project

A winning design is the first step towards a successful commercialization. During the project the instrument has been developed and it became more ergonomic and much more compact together with a significant reduction of the number of components. Regulatory requirements do not represent any obstacle for market introduction, even outside the EU. This represents an important step to secure a commercial expansion in a bigger perspective. Together with two important actors, Medicon Valley Alliance, a sector organization, and Business Sweden we managed to produce a first market plan

Expected long term effects

Three market drivers characterize the customer´s need: ergonomics, performances and price. The instrument has been improved with respect of all the drivers and the result has been better ergonomic and lower production costs. In comparison with alternative solutions the instrument gains a first place regarding performances and price while it reaches a second place regarding ergonomics. New distributors have been contacted, like a leading firm. There is now an approved Swedish patent and the PCT application is in the nationalization phase.

Approach and implementation

The development of the product has been carried out with continuous improvements, with the help av external advisers and customers. At the same time the regulatory framework has been analyzed and technical documentation has been produced. External advisers have carried out a market survey and competition analysis and a market plan was produced together with Business Sweden. Medeon Science Park and Medicon Valley Alliance have organized several meetings which have given knowledge of the international market and new contact. Medeon has contributed with personal coaching.
