Funding from Vinnova SEK 6 584 773
Project duration November 2025 - November 2027
Status Ongoing

Purpose and goal

The project aims to support researchers and students at Linköping University in stepwise verifying and validating knowledge-intensive ideas, thereby increasing their maturity and laying the foundation for future utilization through commercialization. The goal is to increase the number of ideas that, either through incubation or independently, successfully reach the market. Another goal is to further develop the VFT process to ensure the most efficient use of available funds.

Expected effects and result

The project will deliver a number of verification activities, with a particular focus on market validation, entrepreneurial capacity development, and IP support, which reduce risks and create the conditions for successful commercialization. Expected outcomes include the formation of new companies that, through stronger market insight and improved IP protection, can successfully attract the necessary capital and customers, contributing to sustainable growth and long-term societal benefit.

Planned approach and implementation

The VFT process is well integrated into LiU’s support for the commercial utilization of knowledge assets originating from researchers and students. Several collaborating organizations work operationally with the management of VFT, including the identification, anchoring, application/decision, and implementation of stepwise verification activities. LiU Holding has the overall responsibility for the project and for monitoring its results and impacts over time.
