Important results from the project

Through the project, research results and knowledge assets from Linköping University have been verified and validated with regard to commercialisation, contributing to increased maturity of the ideas, a stronger market focus, and improved conditions for investment and company formation. A concrete outcome is the establishment of several new companies during the period. Overall, the project is considered to have delivered according to plan and to have achieved its stated objectives.

Expected long term effects

We see strong effects of the VFT support in enabling more research results to become products, services, and companies that generate societal value, jobs, and growth. Strengthened collaboration between academia and industry makes products and services more market-relevant. Strong, complementary teams provide the right drive and competencies. Early verification and IP protection reduce risk and strengthen decision-making, increasing the share of investment-ready projects and companies.

Approach and implementation

The project has followed the plan and successfully addressed the needs of idea owners through a series of stepwise verification and validation activities that have strengthened the understanding of customer and market needs, secured IP protection, and matched new competencies into the teams. Several adjustments have been made to the VFT process to better meet the needs of idea owners and to improve results follow-up, with a particular focus on entrepreneurial recruitment for deeptech ideas.
