Project duration November 2023 - September 2026
Status Ongoing

Purpose and goal

To achieve the existential necessity of green transition and the Climate Neutral Cities 2030 agreements, there is a need for swift scaling of technical solutions for reducing net greenhouse gas emissions, i.e., net-zero solutions. UTCC will support the scaling of net-zero solutions through twin transition in urban areas. This will be achieved through validating net-zero solutions, and identifying and propagating best practices for scaling.

Expected effects and result

UTTC will contribute to the climate neutral cities in primarily four ways: (1) Increasing the pace and scope of net-zero solution scaling; (2) Influencing the vendors so that their solutions become scalable by default; (3) Increasing the market size and export opportunities for national net-zero solution vendors; (4) Decreasing the green-house gas emissions in Swedish cities and municipalities through increased net-zero solution adoption.

Planned approach and implementation

The work is divided into two phases: initiation and implementation. During the initiation phase, we will align UTTC with the architecture of Viable Cities and design collaboration- and validation models. During the implementation phase, we will apply the models to concrete cases of net zero solutions, scientifically validate these and the necessary prerequisites for national scaling. We will continuously carry out validation and disseminate results to achieve national scaling of net zero solutions through twin transition.
