Upscaling materials for molecular solar cells, phase 2B

Reference number
Coordinator DYENAMO AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 252 500
Project duration March 2016 - October 2017
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Prior to the project, Dyenamo AB had been established as a manufacturer of material-components for research on Molecular Solar Cells. Several of the customers were aiming at large-volume manufacturing of solar cells. The overall objective of this project was to create prerequisites for Dyenamo to supply material-components for such production by developing up-scaling technology and by evaluating the present and future market situation. This has successfully been realized in the project for various materials. Dyenamo has taken a big step towards commercial volume-manufacturing

Expected results and effects

In the project plan, we described a dynamic material-development within the field of Molecular Devices and thus an uncertainty regarding the future winning materials fo industrialization. Dyenamo thus needed to create inhouse expertise for cost-efficient upscalingf of various materals in order to quickly adapt to the dynamic situation. We have undoubtly realized this during the project. A large number of materials in various product-categories have been upscaled.

Planned approach and implementation

In the project plan and throughout the project, we have worked in the four sub-projects; i) Market prerequisites, ii), IPR, SDS and legislation, iii) Organic dyes and their building blocks, iv) Other materials for Molecular solar cells. The work included development and analyses of a number of material-components for Molecular solar cells, such as dyes, electrolyte components, hole-conductors and perovskite-precursors. We have realized all of these in accordance with the project plan, with the exception that the project duration was prolonged.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
