Important results from the project

12 projects and 18 companies have received support. We have increased collaboration with the Innovation Office around idea search and pre-incubation. Built an extended incubation offer that supports companies even after the first capitalization round. Implemeted depper understanding of sustainability perspective (equality, social, economic, besides ecological) Expanded national collaboration through ALIS (Sveriges Life Science incubators) with Investment Days and annual meeting.

Expected long term effects

Collaboration within the Innovation Support System in Umeå will be integrated even more in the future through a planned merger of three incubators. This will hopefully lead to more efficient use of resources in the system With an extended incubation offer, we hope that more of our alumni will survive after incubation and contribute to a growing life science industry in Umeå. National collaboration is central to enabling regional growth in the northern part of the country.

Approach and implementation

We have been able to work on the project according to plan. We are satisfied with the development of the project and the results it has given - which is a well-structured incubator to develop ideas within Life Science. The project was carried out during the covid pandemic, which of course did not go unnoticed. The fact that we were already used to working digitally with national actors meant that our transition to digital work was not as big as it might have been in metropolitan areas.
