Important results from the project
Yes, the goals set during the Nordic Delegation in 2023 were fulfilled. We successfully established a collaboration with Nanyang Technological University (NTU), which has led to significant outcomes. By 2024, research revealed that hydrolyzed cricket powder shows potential to mitigate Alzheimer’s, combat obesity, and slow aging. These results not only achieved our original objectives but also opened new opportunities beyond the food industry, demonstrating the far-reaching impact of our efforts.
Expected long term effects
The project aims to advance sustainable protein production, enhancing global food security and reducing environmental impact. Discoveries such as cricket powder´s potential to mitigate Alzheimer’s, combat obesity, and slow aging open opportunities in healthcare and wellness. Long-term effects include promoting circular agriculture, addressing nutritional needs, and driving innovation across food, health, and sustainability sectors, paving the way for a more resilient future.
Approach and implementation
The project was initiated in 2016 and progressed as planned until 2020, when Covid-19 forced us to shut down production for two years. Since then, the project has resumed development in line with our original goals. To attract an international market, we have established partnerships in Singapore, both in the private and academic sectors, which has proven successful. The next step is to increase production to meet the growing demand.
