Important results from the project
The project aims to assess the opportunity to provide transparent and quality-assured LCA data. It has largely been possible to meet the project´s purpose, in particular it has been possible to assess whether it will be a business area in the long term. There is still a need to learn more about the resources required to develop LCA data that is better than the data that the market today offers.
Expected long term effects
There is a big demand for transparent LCA data. Consultants who do LCA calculations estimate that 25% of the cost can be cut with transparent data. Some customer alternatives offers validated data. Transparency is still limited and verification/analysis a huge cost. Swedish Transport Administration will soon require that tenders include climate impact calculations. Around 2000 bid / year will need transparent LCA data. Ecoloop will continue to explore business opportunities. Contact has been established with the Swedish Transport Administration and KTH for further cooperation.
Approach and implementation
Ecoloop worked initially developed a concept which we have heard of the potential customers who have given positive feedback. We have been associated with the identification of data sources, established new contacts in government and universities that have transparency in both resource needs, demand, and that will be essential to the precise business concept.
