Project duration November 2018 - June 2021
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The overall goal of the project was to develop an educational concept that can contribute to strengthening the crisis management capacity of public actors at various levels in Swedish society. At the end of the project, five courses have been developed. Introductory course at basic level (3 credits), and four advanced courses at advanced level (5 credits). The introductory course has been given three times & two of the advanced courses have been given once. Evaluation of the courses gives indications that new methods, processes have been developed at the participants´ organizations.

Expected results and effects

The intention was to raise the level of competence of professionals, contribute to professionalisation & to create networks between participants. We have received evidence of this through the course evaluations. One of several examples is that the course “created great opportunities to develop both me & my organization". Course design contributed to that I can continue to work with the issues on my own together with my organization. This is an example of the effect we intended with the project & our hope is that the course participants bring their insights into their organizations.

Planned approach and implementation

Design and implementation have largely followed the project plan. A broad reference group was put together early in the project and formed the basis for the focus and content of the courses. Early on we realized the need for an introductory course that could provide knowledge of a number of common perspectives of importance for all specialization courses. The introductory course also enabled an introduction to academic studies for those who had no previous experience or those whose academic studies were far back in time. This approach has proved very successful.
