Project duration November 2015 - November 2017
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Selected materials and methods for materials characterization have been utilized to study the properties of raw materials and fuels intended for the production of quicklime and cement clinker. Methods have been developed and adjusted to fill the needs of industrial production. The results show a variation in relevant material properties, such as sintering, melting and re-carbonization. The results show materials or mixes thereof, that will increase or decrease the efficiency of the processes. The results have been communicated both internally and externally.

Expected results and effects

The project has delivered new knowledge relevant to the goals of the project. Furthermore the project has enabled the transfer of knowledge and experience, internally between the project parties and externally with the scientific community and industry. Some implementation of adopted and developed methods have already been performed internally by the project parties. It is now up to the parties to continue the implementation.

Planned approach and implementation

The project had appropriate staffing and management. The project parties are merited within the field and in possession of relevant plants and mineral deposits. The project had access to relevant equipment, data, means of communication, software and literature. The project parties have fulfilled their planned contribution. The project has performed analyses in several laboratories in the Nordic countries which has required a structured modus operandi.
