Purpose and goal
The aim was to increase the participation from the Swedish water sector as project partners and coordinators in Horizon 2020. The starting point of this is the content of the Swedish Water Vison. The goal of the first stage of the Water platform, 2014-2016, was that representatives from the Swedish Water sector should coordinate at least one H2020-project and participate in at least 10 projects. These goals have been fulfilled, which also is the case with the goal that the number of members of the Water supply and sanitation Technology Platform (WssTP) should increase.
Results and expected effects
The goal of the first period was that actors of the Swedish Water sector should coordinate at least one H2020-project and participate in at least 10 projects. These goals have been fulfilled. Some other effects and deliverables are - One seminar given on how to apply for H2020 calls, complemented with articles in journals well spread in the water sector - Platform members participated in important meetings on EU-level thanks to co-financing from the platform - Members of the platform own key roles in working groups of WssTP, which enables a strong influence of Swedish water issues on H2020
Approach and implementation
The approach and implementation of the first period was successful in terms of approval of H2020 projects with participation and coordination of Swedish actors. In order to further improve the platform, industry representatives has been added to the project leading and the coordinator group and cooperation with industrial networks has been strengthened. The presence of Swedish representatives on important EU-meetings has dramatically increased. We now work continuously to nominate Swedish water specialists for leading positions in European working groups.
