Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project was to - increase the understanding of how Swedish municipalities view the notion "smart cities" - understand the challenges municipalities face in the smart city transformation These issues have been explored and described in the written report delivered to Vinnova.

Expected results and effects

The written report delivered to Vinnova can be used to increase the understanding of the smart city transformation, both within the agency and in external organisations.

Planned approach and implementation

The project was carried out in accordance with the methodology described in the project definition: qualitative interviews were conducted with representatives from political leadership and city management of Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Linköping/Norrköping and Umeå. In addition to this, interviews with representatives from other relevant organisations were carried out. Altogether, over 20 respondents were included in the study.
