Important results from the project
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The aim of the study is to empirically contribute to new knowledge about the chairman´s role and significance for the company´s strategic renewal and long-term value creation. The results of the study are well in line with current Nordic research but also shed new light on eligibility requirements and expectations placed on board leadership and team productivity. The study reports practically oriented knowledge that can be used in educational activities as well as findings that can guide future Board research.

The study´s practical knowledge contribution consists of thematic analyzes that show which factors contribute to effective board work and value-creating business, and experience-based statements that clearly illustrate the significance of context driven innovation.
Approach and implementation
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The study is based on the the recipients of the Golden Gavel, a yearly award initiated and delivered by Stiftelsen Guldklubban. The study includes 30 chairmen, of which half in listed companies and half in unlisted companies. Four out of 30 are women. The covered timperiod is 2005-2019. The research approach is qualitative and analyzes include nomination texts, interviews with the recipients of the Golden Gavel and other secundary material. In addition, a roundtable discussion was conducted with 5 recipients of the award.
