Important results from the project

The project delivered clear results and highlighted diet-related health perspectives in the debate on Sweden´s defense and preparedness. The installation engaged over 600 participants in Stockholm and Gothenburg, along with a digital petition and social media, sparking insightful discussions on the food system´s impact on health. Strong interest from national media and policymakers, including 23 members of parliament, has led to ongoing political discussions.

Expected long term effects

Participants´ reflections show that the “food-health-preparedness” perspective supports PUSH’s mission: “By 2035, the food system promotes a healthy life for all.” Many recognized the link between public health and preparedness, stressed adults´ responsibility for future generations, and expressed gratitude for highlighting the issue. This strengthens PUSH’s policy work and increases the likelihood that policymakers will prioritize measures for healthier eating habits.

Approach and implementation

The prototype simulated a military recruitment process in a future where Sweden is at war while facing a diet-related health crisis, highlighting the link between nutrition, health, and preparedness. The installation in Stockholm and Gothenburg engaged a broad audience and enhanced public and policymaker awareness more effectively than expected. Despite a tight timeline, the project was successfully executed with a well-functioning team and adaptive adjustments along the way.
