Purpose and goal

Food environments in many sports facilities for children and youth are characterized by unhealthy and environmentally unsustainable choices. WWF and BL Innovation, in collaboration with the City of Stockholm, want to change this by developing and testing prototypes directly in the cafes of swimming pools. The goal is to create measurable results that can show both the public and decision makers that it is possible to influence food choices in a more sustainable and healthy direction.

Expected effects and result

Through measurable results from a field experiment in public swimming pools, the project will show that it is possible to influence young people´s choices of sustainable and healthy food choices in sports environments. By testing different prototypes directly in the environment – such as changed offerings, new work routines or nudging using language, design and packaging – the project wants to explore how children and young people´s choices can be guided towards more sustainable alternatives.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is coordinated by WWF, responsible for the overall administration and communication of the project, as well as the mapping of food environments in the sports world. BL Innovation has the main responsibility for co-creating processes with key actors, such as café owners and visitors, as well as the implementation of strategic experiments in the field. The City of Stockholm is a strategic partner to the project to enable the dissemination and implementation of the project´s results.
