The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Stairs for the Swedish Horse Community

Important results from the project

The main purposes of the projects have been achieved. We have started to create a change in attitude in terms of creating a more innovation friendly environment. Now, the industry association, Hästnäringens Nationella Stiftelse (HNS) have innovation and entrepreneurship on their agenda. Together with HNS and other actors, we have created the innovation platform Innovare (www.innovare.se) and with the Innovation Staircase and Margaretas Innovationsdag, we have developed concrete tools to move the development forward.

Expected long term effects

The concrete effects of the project have been achieved. (1) We have developed all the four steps of the Innovation staircase. (2) We have learnt how the model needs to be presented to high school students and the importance of having project managers with riding experience and mentors. (3) The project has become one of the "best practices" within the Swedish horse riding community when it comes to innovation and entrepreneurship. It is discussed at board meetings at HNS, Swedish Equestrian Association and the Swedish Trot Racing.

Approach and implementation

The execution of the project has gone according to plan. A main reason behind this are the continuous evaluations done after each workshop as well as the regular meetings in the project´s Steering Committee. If the project is funded a second year, we will develop digital tools to spread the Innovation staircase to more schools and also spend more time integrating the Innovation staircase with the normal school curriculum and schedule. Several other sports such as football, hockey, golf and skiing have shown interest as well as the Swedish Sports Confederation (Riksidrottsförbundet).
