Important results from the project

The initiative of the year (Årets initiativ) is the award for social innovation within civil society. Behind the award is the National Forum for voluntary organisations (Forum). With this award we want to highlight the importance of civil society´s social innovations. The winner of Årets initiativ 2019, the organization Pensionsrättvisa, was announced on the International Voluntary day on December 5th, at a gala with about 145 participants. Both before and after the awards ceremony, the winners was in social media, newsletters and among members of the National Forum.

Expected long term effects

The initiative of the year has been shared in five ways 1) announcement that the nomination period has opened 2) Of 43 innovations, 11 were sent to the jury with and shared with press release, in Forum´s newsletter & social media 3) Three finalists were selected by the jury; shared via press release, in Forums newsletter & social media 4) on a gala-like event, the winner was presented. The other two finalists were also highlighted 5) the winner has been highlighted with a press release, article on Forums website & in one special issue of Forums newsletter

Approach and implementation

In the fall of 2019, Forum worked to collect nominations, resulting in 43 unique initiatives. Forum chose 11 initiatives that the jury had to chose from. A jury, consisting of a representative from Mötesplats social innovation, a researcher at Stockholm University, SEB, Forum/Rädda Barnen and Teskedsorden (last year´s winner) took the job and selected three initiatives that went on to the final. The jury then decided which of these three initiatives was awarded the Initiative of the Year in 2019.
