Purpose and goal

The project aims to raise awareness and stir emotions to future scenarios where forests are privatized and access is restricted. By envisioning a future with digital tickets for forest access, the project challenges the view of forests as an unlimited resource and stimulates discussion about sustainable forestry. The goal is to create a prototype that demonstrates this scenario, collect visitor reactions, and disseminate insights to promote sustainable forest management and preserve biodiversity.

Expected effects and result

We want to raise the question of future of forests among the public and put pressure on decision-makers. Promote continuos-cover-forestry, close-to-nature forestry as part of a sustainable transition and educate about natural forests. Draw attention to different forestry models to create a balance between economic growth and biodiversity. By giving the visitor an easily accessible and emotional experience of a future scenario, we want to create deeper understanding and a willingness to act.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is developing the prototype based on Speculative Design methodology. This will be done iteratively through idea work and creating the Forest Pass experience, with close collaboration between RISE, Plockhugget, and Göteborgs Stad, resulting in a prototype demonstration. RISE leads with expertise in design and visualization. Plockhugget and Göteborgs Stad provide expert knowledge in nature-based, continuos-cover-forestry. The work will be communicated through appropriate channels.
