Important results from the project
Our most important objective – to provoke reflection on people´s relationship to the forest and how it might change in the future – was achieved. Many visitors reacted strongly to the idea of replacing the right of way with a rationed forest pass.It created both emotions and insights, and opened up new conversations about the value of the forest and who it is really for now and in the future. We hope that it can help people feel that they have a voice in the question of the future of the forest.
Expected long term effects
We do not yet know how long-lasting the effect will be, but we hope that our reflection station sparked thoughts that will live on, especially about biodiversity and alternative ways of managing forests. This project was the first time that several of our partners worked with speculative design and foresight. It opened doors to new ways of creating dialogue and arousing commitment. It has also deepened our expertise and led to more involvement in future-focused initiatives.
Approach and implementation
The project´s structure worked very well. The activities – from meetings to workshops and exhibitions – were both of high quality and ensured that the project moved forward. The collaboration worked smoothly, with several colleagues contributing their expertise in different parts of the process. The schedule was on track, and as a bonus we also got to exhibit at the Röhsska Museum. No major obstacles arose – rather the project developed better than expected.
