Project duration May 2024 - April 2025
Status Completed
Venture future prototypes in sustainable mobility
Call Shape the sustainable solutions of the future within the mobility or food system

Important results from the project

We have depicted a dystopian and a utopian future and decisions that either can escalate or mitigate a food crisis. Visitors in multiple cities have experienced, and taken time to reflect and discuss, future scenarios where food is rationed and the effects of acting proactively and together - or of being unprepared. The projects objective has been achieved and it has led to new opportunities to strengthen local food supplies.

Expected long term effects

The project has contributed to strengthening the field of foresight and speculative design, which can accelerate sustainable transformation, including within the food system. Through the project, more people have insight into issues regarding food and preparedness and expressed motivation to act in ways that can strengthen the food system and our preparedness. Lessons learned from visitors´ reactions and reflections will guide future work to increase Sweden´s food security and preparedness.

Approach and implementation

This project was intensive, requiring dedication, flexibility and collaboration to achieve the goals and to implement the project effectively. We developed future scenario based on thorough mapping, research and collaboration, built and exhibited a prototype in two cities, evolved the project into a living lab and captured and conveyed visitors reactions. We are especially grateful to Södertälje, Universeum and collaborating food actors, for the media attention and for new opportunities.
