Important results from the project
The project Social Food Environments, is a joint initiative by Reformaten, Momentality, and Boys Don’t Cry. We have developed a framework that, through speculative design, fosters understanding and engagement in more sustainable and socially integrated food environments. We believe we have reached our goal: to develop and test a functioning format. This format will now continue to be applied in new local contexts, where it can contribute to creating sustainable and healthy food environments.
Expected long term effects
Social Food Environments will be implemented in new locations with initiated dialogues. The project has enabled important relationships and policy discussions and is expected to influence Danish work on food environments and strengthen Nordic collaboration on the topic. With funding sought from the French Committee for International Solidarity, the format is planned to be applied in Ghana. The project has provided valuable insights into the use of speculative design for dialogue forums.
Approach and implementation
A small cross-functional team used speculative design to create a future scenario and meal format. The concept was introduced at the Copenhagen Cooking food festival, reaching both the public and food professionals. Insights from this activation and event production were used to update the format, which was later presented at Vinnova’s vernissage at Universeum. The project´s digital component became a DIY version for setting up at home or at the workplace.
