The Farm: Establishing a Human-Centered Robotics Platform for Resilient Societies

Reference number
Coordinator Hugr AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration October 2026 - March 2027
Status Ongoing
Venture Preparation projects for international application within health
Call Deepened international collaborations for healthy and resilient societies

Purpose and goal

Robotic systems are being introduced to public environments from previously in controlled industrial environments. This development is driven by societal needs such as automation of services, climate adaptation or emergency preparedness. Society´s ability to evaluate, regulate and responsibly integrate such systems has not developed at the same pace. The project objective is to establish an Swedish-German research and verification platform for human-centred robotics in societal environments.

Expected effects and result

At project completion, the expected results are: a shared strategic roadmap for The Farm; a prioritised shortlist of use cases linked to healthy and resilient societies; an initial methodological framework for human-centred robotics verification; a mapped ecosystem of relevant Swedish, German, and European stakeholders; a formalised collaboration structure between the partners; and at least one prepared follow-up application for a larger research or innovation project.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will be implemented as an initiative focused collaboration building and project preparation. The activities will align partners, identify prioritized use cases, define initial verification questions, map relevant stakeholders and develop a strategic roadmap together. The project is structured in three work packages: collaboration establishment and formalization; use case, stakeholder and verification position; and design of joint strategic roadmap.
