Project duration November 2015 - June 2016
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The goal of this project was to create a circuit board that makes it easy for students to construct controllers to computers. With ´kontrollpanelen´ everybody can build their own keyboard and mouse, and be free to experiment with how to work with computers. We want to make it easier for students to experiment on how one actually should control a computer. We want to create opportunities for innovation.

Expected results and effects

The project resulted in a finished product that works. Information about the project can be found on http://datakortet.se, and all designs and software can be found at github: https://github.com/BathroomEpiphanies/datakortet_kontrollpanelen We hope that the effects of this project will be that our product ´Kontrollpanelen´ can find funding for further distributribution to all the schools around the country.

Planned approach and implementation

The project began with building the circuit board as a prototype on a development board. Software could be tested right from the beginning and we could do a sanity check to see how well the product would perform. The work then proceeded with designing the circuit board in kicad and ordering it from a factory. All components were then installed (each card has about 200 surface mount components) and the card could be tested in reality. The project encountered no difficulties and stayed inside the time frame.
