Important results from the project

The Biorefinery of the Future aims to create sustainable growth and make the region a center for biorefinery development. Needs driven R&D with industry and academy, in 3H, is central for building a strong cluster. During the last period the environment has been established nationally and the ability to attract external funding and partners also internationally have been clearly strengthened. The goal achievement is good and financing for the innovation environment and our role as a regional engine for innovation and system development have been established

Expected long term effects

Most of our initial goals have been fulfilled. In addition, other values are created, as the building of a strong and well-functioning clusters, development of working methods in the innovation system, competence and infrastructure that attracts research funding and makes us attractive as partner both in national and international projects. FB has been established as a respected environment and our opinion is asked for by high level policy makers. This provides unique opportunities to influence the development in our field.

Approach and implementation

The work to initiate and pursue biorefinery R&D cooperation along the value chains from forest to the end customer have continued with 3H commitment. Our ability to mobilize alliances and create and manage complex projects has been strengthened and we participate to a larger extent in international projects. We have continued the work to strengthen the innovation system in collaboration with the region and also to lead promising concepts further towards realization. Financing for the innovation environment has been established.
