Purpose and goal

Urbanization is increasing rapidly and we are now building Nacka city which should be completed in 2030. Through FRÖN we have explored if co-creation, art, culture and creative expertise need to get a new and stronger role in urban development. The answer is yes. We have met the goal of finding new solutions and approaches that can create an inspiring, inclusive and welcoming city, both during construction and when it is finished. New strategies and methods supporting co-creation, site development with artistic quality is now being implemented on a broad front.

Results and expected effects

The project has stimulated the pace of innovation in urban development. We have expanded the boundaries of what is considered possible. Ideas and perspectives that previously experienced unthinkable is now seen as both possible and relevant. Several new working methods are now through systematic inclusion being established as a new system. Great attention in the media and among colleagues nationally and internationally. Spill effects on other municipal services, such as elderly care, with interest in developing similar new working methods. A result in line with modern research.

Approach and implementation

Our thesis is that it is by doing innovations appears and takes hold. We have worked on the basis of principles to drive the development of complexity. Therefore this project has consisted of a number ´tests´ divided into thematic groups, where we tried out new approaches in a reasonable scale and then systematically reflected and created learning. We have the through the testing pushed the limits in the given context. What is possible? From our perspective and experience a necessity for impact and success. The analysis is that our approach and management approach worked out very well.
