Coordinator Photon Sports Technologies AB - Adopticum / Sliperiet
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration April 2016 - December 2017
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Photon Sports has developed a unique measurement technology in the project "Technology for Speed Training", which enables accurate, objective and relevant feedback during speed training. With its patent pending method of 3D positioning athletes during exercises and tests, athletes´ strengths and weaknesses can be evaluated and monitored over time. Photon Sports has developed real-time software for signal and image processing that measure, calculate and store position, speed and acceleration in three dimensions.

Expected results and effects

We have developed prototypes that enable measurement and demonstration with potential customers and experts. We have discussed and tested the technology with researchers, coaches and athletes and have been able to verify the needs and identify design and usability aspects. Based on the technology´s capabilities and customer needs, we have been able to design a first version of our user interface and identify which exercises we will initially offer the market. Based on the prototypes and lessons learned, we are completing plans and funding for the development of an MVP. Launching

Planned approach and implementation

During the project, Photon Sports has spent a lot of time, partly paid by the project, as well as used external experts for critical tasks. Time wise the project has been extended as priority has been given to achieving as much as possible with available resources. Thanks to contacts and Vinnova´s funding we have also managed to recruit no less than fifteen students who have worked in various sub-projects linked to the idea, totaling> 4000 hours. Necessary hardware for development as well as hardware for prototype systems have been funded by the project.
