Purpose and goal
The project s overall aim was to improve the efficiency of public resource use and allow for external companies and institutions to develop products for the production, analysis and monitoring of existing official library statistics by making available the information as open data. The project has delivered a platform that provides library statistics as linked open data via an API as well as bulk download. The use of an open standard - JSON-LD - enabled us to combine the benefits of a simple data serialization format with semantic traceability.
Results and expected effects
By making available library statistics as open data it is now possible for external actors to re-use the information in other contexts.
Approach and implementation
The project developed a platform for existing and future library statistics that contain all the variables for those that are now available electronically on different ways and formats. The platform was developed using the web framework Django.
