Swedish Node for Accelerating Cybersecurity Research and Innovation

Reference number
Coordinator RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB - RISE Cybersecurity Lab, Kista
Funding from Vinnova SEK 4 500 000
Project duration January 2020 - October 2021
Status Completed
Venture Collaboration projects in cybersecurity and digital infrastructure

Purpose and goal

The Node´s work has already today brought together industry, academia and the public sector, and thus the work of initiating innovation in cyber security has begun. Sweden´s ability to win funding from research programs within the EU also benefits from this work. In the long run, this can contribute to faster and more secure digitalization in Swedish industry and among Swedish public actors. In the longer term, this will also strengthen Swedish competitiveness and exports in cyber security.

Expected results and effects

During Phase 1, the Cybernode has been established through an organization with a steering and reference group, a project management with two coordinators, almost 100 members, eight established working groups, a set of rules including security rules, dissemination of information about national calls and about Horisont Europa, and a website with function for "security profiling” by the members. With these profiles have the skills database started to be built, which will be used to create a consortium for participation in the national project and the EU project, eg Horisont Europa.

Planned approach and implementation

Two factors have delayed the work: the Corona pandemic and delays in Horizon Europe. Corona has to some extent prevented some meeting activities, but above all the pandemic has meant that many organizations have prioritized more urgent issues over innovation work. Hopefully, the interest of many organizations can increase as the pandemic subsides. The Horizon Europe delay has also created delays in the work, especially when it comes to creating consortia for EU applications.
