Status | Completed |
Purpose and goal
The overall purpose of the project has been to make the Swedish Forest Agency data more available, easy to find and use. The aim is better use in the forest. One step in the work has been to make data searchable trough a more general metadata interface, DCAT-AP, and through that mapping existent management in ISO 19115. The project has also included methods for managing large raster datasets for download and license agreements for open data, Creative Commons.
Results and expected effects
Current data portal at the Swedish Forest Agency has been developed with interface and mapping rules so that öppnadata.se can harvest the directory. The mapping between ISO19115 and DCAT has not been easy to fulfill and more analysis is needed for better harmonizing. The goal was also to create convenient packages of raster data with forest information in appropriate block size, for optimal download. By implementing distinct authorization terms for usage will be easier and the concept of open data will be strengthened.
Approach and implementation
The project has included three parts: - Mapping metadata from ISO19115 to DCAT-AP for a larger usage. - Packaging large area raster data stored in blocks for optimal managing and download. - Authorization, Creative Commons, for simple and clear conditions for all datasets.
