Important results from the project
Sweden Canada Innovation Initiative achieved and exceeded the defined goals for 2024. Sweden Canada Innovation Days were held on October 3-4 in Toronto with a focus on mining, bio-economy and AI. The conference had over 180 participants and a large number of speakers from both countries representing both industry, academia and governments. Three Executive Innovation Team meetings were held during 2024 with focus on informing all participants about project, initiatives and collaboration groups.
Expected long term effects
The Sweden Canada Innovation Initiative continues to grow and has created closer and deeper relationships between Sweden and Canada over the past 5 years, especially in sectors such as forestry, mining, manufacturing, AI, transportation and industrial construction. Ignite´s match-making meetings have resulted in several pilot projects and contracts. Sweden has received increased attention in both Ontario and Quebec, resulting in more visits from both governments and companies.
Approach and implementation
Business Sweden has had the main responsibility for managing the project for the past 6 years, but has also involved Mark Henderson as an external consultant. Mark has led all EIT meetings during the year. All set objective and activities have been achieved during the year and it has been a very good and rewarding platform for all actors to exchange ideas, share information and establish stronger contacts between Sweden and Canada both within academia, industry and governments.
