Important results from the project

The project´s objective was met. It identified social challenges and opportunities linked to metallurgical biocarbon and proposed concrete measures. Other important results: New research initiatives and project ideas. Strengthened collaboration between industry, academia and societal actors. A master´s thesis that deepened the analysis of the innovation system. New networks and consortia for future collaboration.

Expected long term effects

The project strengthens the foundation for a sustainable and fossil-free metals industry by promoting collaboration between sectors, increasing understanding of biochar and contributing to regional development. Clear communication, standardization and education are crucial for broad implementation and societal benefit.

Approach and implementation

Projektet HåBiMet – Socialt Perspektiv was a feasibility study that investigated social aspects of metallurgical biochar. Four work packages were implemented: project management, social acceptance, skills provision and consortium development. Methods included workshops, interviews, seminars and sustainability analysis. The results form the basis for new projects and continued collaboration between industry, academia and societal actors.
