Purpose and goal

The goal of the project is to accelerate the development of an efficient and sustainable freight transport system in urban environment. By understanding how: -circular and efficient urban logistics system can be built and scaled up with efficient logistics flows, new vehicle concepts, load carriers and by enabling increased groupage and return flows. -The smart and sustainable City Hub should be designed. -Business models and policy can facilitate the transition. -How digitization, open APIs and data sharing in freight flows can streamline system efficiency.

Expected results and effects

Digitization creates good conditions for understanding how inefficient transport. Visualization of freight flows & environment KPIs facilitate efficiency and collaboration. Electrification of vehicles opens up for night distribution in cities on a larger scale than before. If this happens, there is great potential in efficiency the overall transport work. However, a number of challenges remain before this can happen. More & more actors are realizing that collaboration is important. When the incentives and infrastructure are in place, collaboration in a hub will be made possible

Planned approach and implementation

The activities have focused on knowledge generation and industrial research. Where knowledge is built through, state-of-the-art studies, by working out possible concepts through design thinking. Thereafter, the concept is iterated together within the partnership in the project. In order to achieve the project´s overall goals, the various issues have been addressed with different methodological approaches. These methods and frameworks are based on putting the human being at the center where we shift the agenda to starting from the human needs instead of focusing on technology.
