Sustainable and inclusive transport for events and tours

Reference number
Coordinator Stiftelsen Chalmers Industriteknik
Funding from Vinnova SEK 750 000
Project duration January 2025 - September 2025
Status Ongoing
Venture Accelerate - FFI
Call FFI Accelerate the transition to sustainable road transport - autumn 2024

Purpose and goal

Transport is a significant factor in terms of the impact on the climate and the environment at events. At the same time, the events fulfil an important function in society by promoting community and engagement and bridging gaps between people. To continue to exploit the potential of events, new transport solutions need to be developed. This preparatory project will lay the foundation for solutions that pave the way for climate-smart and socially inclusive transport in the event industry.

Expected effects and result

The goal of the preparatory project is to map and clarify what is required for a successful implementation of a large-scale system demonstrator. The results will be summarised in an action plan describing the design, scope, implementation, evaluation, consortium and possible forms of funding for the demonstrator. In the longer term, the work will result in a portfolio of solutions that enable significantly more sustainable and socially inclusive transport in connection with events and tours.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will deliver the results needed to ensure a successful implementation of a large-scale system demonstrator. The work includes, among other things, an analysis of the business environment, mapping of the business ecosystem, as well as the formulation of goals and evaluation strategies. The project will also create a portfolio of potential transport solutions and analyze how these can interact or counteract each other. The results are summarised in an action plan.
