Venture Impact Innovation: Designing the places of the future for attractive, accessible and sustainable communities
Call Impact Innovation: Designing the places of the future for attractive, accessible and sustainable communities

Purpose and goal

SUPER LINES aim is to create an understanding of how the transformation of central infrastructure can contribute to a more attractive, accessible and sustainable city. The vision is a greener and smarter street network in Stockholm´s city centre. Transforming Centralbron and the inner city´s traffic network can have major effects on travel and move car travelers to active transportation and at the same time increase quality of life. The goal is social, environmental and economic development.

Expected effects and result

SUPER LINES will challenge the existing car infrastructure in central Stockholm by showing how a successive transformation of the motor traffic route Centralbron can create a new, green and central urban space between Södermalm and the City with a connecting street network, where walking, cycling and public transport are prioritized. In addition, the project accelerate a fossil-free conversion of the entire inner city traffic system for more walking, cycling and shared transportation.

Planned approach and implementation

SUPER LINES is carried out in six "speculative" steps. 1) Strategic analysis (Discover), 2) Traffic analysis (Explore), Street network design (Challenge), Place design (Develop), Citizen dialogue (Experience), Strategies (Evaluate). The vision will be simulated and analyzed with an advanced traffic model (Sampers/Dynameq), visualized in 2D and 3D and communicated with an app (Placetoplan) that collects feedback from citizens. Finally, strategies are developed that can realize the vision.
