Purpose and goal

The main goal of the project was to establish a node that supports Swedish organizations active on the underwater arena. SubTechSweden had the goal to inform and raise interest on a political level with the aim to reach the final goal of establishing a research program supporting research and innovation. SubTechSweden had the goal to demonstrate that the underwater domain potentially can give a strong societal impact and that several of the challenges the world encounters can be faced. A new Agenda was established; this time directed towards political level and decision makers.

Expected results and effects

SubTechSweden has achieved to gather Swedish stakeholders from the underwater arena. Politicians and Swedish agencies have been informed and are aware of SubTechSweden’s potential to make a social impact. A new Agenda has been established that will constitute point of departure for the next coming years. An excepted outcome is that a dedicated research and innovation program is established, that there is a political consensus, that a resilient supply of competences is secured, and that new constellation of stakeholders are formed.

Planned approach and implementation

It was possible with the back up from the Vinnova project to support the daily operation of SubTechSweden. A permanent working group was established with a broad representation from academia, agencies and companies, all located in different parts of Sweden. The group has regularly meet to develop aims and visions as well as to establish the new Agenda. A workshop was arranged to gather the underwater community to discuss and establish the Agenda. A steering group with representation from Swedish industry and institutes was involved to comment and make improvement on the final Agenda.
