Important results from the project
Goals were well met in the project. Efficient and robust design of 60GHz co-located small antennas in radar systems was achieved, new methods for system requirements and evaluation were developed and knowledge about material selection was increased. This has been reported internally in the company, but also in collaborations with Lunds Universitet, discussions at research conferences and between researchers. The new technologies are directly applied in upcoming radar products.
Expected long term effects
More efficient, more accurate, and better-adapted antenna solutions have been designed for use in small radar systems. This saves energy in the systems, reduces potential material waste, and provides economic and performance-related margins.
Approach and implementation
Stakeholders in the company agreed on priorities - use cases were broken down into requirements. Discussions with suppliers were initiated and alternatives were developed. Literature was reviewed and evaluation of proposals started with modeling and simulations. Discussions and iterations within RnD, reporting with stakeholders every two weeks where results+decisions were presented. Documentation in internal systems. The project was driven by Yingqi with support from supervisors and colleagues.
