Venture Era-Net Urban Accessibility and Connectivity (ENUAC) - Innovation Action

Purpose and goal

The transformation of the urban environment from car-dominated to places for people requires consensus from several stakeholders. Consensus is created by developing a shared understanding of the local issues, building trust among stakeholders, empowering citizens to participate and raising awareness of the long-term effects of street interventions. The project will develop StreetForum Toolkit to help authorities, citizens and civic organizations build consensus around street transformation projects that increase the attractiveness of the urban environment.

Expected effects and result

The StreetForum toolbox will consist of analog and digital tools to help build consensus and negotiate accessibility and design. We will develop stakeholder categories and stories about street transformation, a collaborative tool for digital crowdsourcing, a consensus-building design game, a platform for online assessment of street values, a physical mobile co-design cart, guidelines for the use of art installations and cultural events, and guidelines for process management.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will be implemented by 1) Developing analysis and process tools for the transformation of streets 2) Building four street projects in the form of Living Labs in Brussels, Vienna, Stockholm, Istanbul. 3) Evaluate these Living Labs, and their impact, transferability and scalability. 4) Develop guidelines and tools for creating consensus-building street transformation processes. This will be published as a guide for street transformation.
