StratMet - Strategic influence platform for Metallic Materials

Purpose and goal

The project is related to the Strategic Innovation Area ´Metallic Materials´ and aimed to increase Swedish participation in activities on metallic materials in Horizon 2020, both strategically and at the project level. This is to accelerate the achievement of objectives in the seven steps in the strategic agenda ´National Action on Metallic Materials´.The goal that the StratMet platform has an natural place on the European research arena has been achieved via ESTEP, SPIRE etc and it has been possible to influence calls to include conditions relevant for Sweden.

Expected results and effects

The results include a continually updated overview of European research on metallic materials, a strategic map of platforms for influencing European research, effective sharing of information among innovation area representatives, increased Swedish visibility in the European arena and influence on the formulation of calls and insights into application processes. During the project the focus has shifted more towards dissemination and advocacy in Sweden to increase Swedish involvement in European activities.

Planned approach and implementation

The work has involved an inventory of ways to influence European research, participation in c. 50 activities for information gathering, of which c. 20 with advocacy opportunities, and around 30 dissemination activities. In addition speakers have been invited to the annual programme conferences, www.metalliskamaterial.se has been used as an information channel and an initative taken to establish information exchange with related advocacy platforms.
