Project duration September 2016 - October 2017
Status Completed
Venture Medtech4Health: Competence Enhancement in SME

Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project was to initiate a cooperation between Inerventions AB and Rehabiliteringsmedicinska Universitetskliniken/Karolinska Institutet, on of the leading research groups in non invasive treatment of spasticity in Sweden. The goal was for Karolinska to increase the competence at Inerventions AB regarding among other things the creation of clinical evidence. Inerventions has developed Mollii, a full bodey suit with electrodes which can create relaxation in spastic muscles. Both parts in the project agree that the goals of the project were fulfilled.

Expected results and effects

There were four partial goals within the project. All of these were reached, resulting in the report "Theoretical framework for clinical applications of Mollii" which can be downloaded from inerventions.se. An article in Läkartidningen named "För lång väg från idé till införande av medicintekniska produkter" as the result of a seminar with SKL, SBU, SLL-Gotland and more. The cooperation between Rehabiliteringsmedicinska Universitetskliniken and Inerventions has also produced the foundation for the evidence strategy that will guide Inerventions for the years to come.

Planned approach and implementation

The project contents included many aspects of producing clinical evidence. Among other things, the implementation process for medical device products has been highlighted by several parties in these processes. The added value of creating and supporting cooperation between companies, academics and health care system is viewed in a very positive light by all parties.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
