Important results from the project

The aim of the project was to contribute to the utilization and commercialization of academic knowledge and research results. The verification process aims at reducing risks and increasing the quality of the ideas prior to the commercialization process. The project also had the goal of increasing the number of ideas from students. It is noted that the flow of student ideas into the verification process has increased during the project period. Also, previous verification projects have often been developed further after the completion of the VFT phase.

Expected long term effects

The project has made it possible for ideas and research results to be evaluted and verified. The project has also contributed to an increased inflow of ideas from students to UmU´s innovation support system. Since the start of the project, the project has contributed to the formation of new companies and some of the previous verification projects have managed to attracted venture capital.

Approach and implementation

Structure and implementation: During the project period, our working methods have been developed continuously, among other things, we have offered the VFT projects to undergo an initial work shop in Verification Methodology / Need Analysis, which gives the projects a good start of the verification process. The summer verification initiative for students has contributed to the increased inflow of student ideas, and that more ideas from students have been granted VFT projects
