Coordinator SWERIM AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 700 000
Project duration November 2021 - October 2022
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The purpose of the pre-study is to investigate the prerequisites for starting a project to develop international standards for the testing of rock reinforcement. The objective is to have a basis for decisions about starting such a project. The pre-study has essentially been able to be carried out and deliver results according to plan and the results shows broad support from mines and rock reinforcement manufacturers as well as from the major testing facilities in the world. 100% objective achievement is estimated to be reached in Q1, 2023 when remaining activities have been completed.

Expected long term effects

The pre-study has generated results that describe the prerequisites for starting an international project for the standardization of methods and equipment for the testing of rock reinforcement. The result shows broad support from mines, manufacturers of rock reinforcement, and the testing facilities.

Approach and implementation

The project has been organized and carried out in six work packages. The majority of the investigations has been carried out by Swerim and LTU while the rest of the consortium has supported with valuable input information and feedback on deliverables. WP 1, Project coordination (Swerim) WP 2, Mapping of rock types and load cases in deep mines WP 3, Mapping of existing test standards, test methods and test laboratories WP 4, SOTA-analysis on research in rock reinforcement and test methods WP 5, Key partners, countries, and funding WP 6, Roadmap towards international standards
