Funding from Vinnova SEK 2 000 000
Project duration June 2024 - June 2026
Status Ongoing
Venture Advanced digitalization - Enabling technologies
Call Cyber security for advanced digitalization 2024

Purpose and goal

Aim: Digitization brings a need for cyber-secure systems for large-scale microtransactions between authentic addresses (e.g. people or autonomous machines) with traceability and possibility to set rules for automatic approval/blocking of transactions, and to determine ownership of various assets. Objective: To develop decentralized and resource-efficient solutions for the above, where authorities and delegations ensure authentic accounts, addresses, and logical positions. Solutions shall have validated performance and scalability for the digital machine economy.

Expected effects and result

Effects: - Consensus between academia, industry, and financial parties (e.g. banks and government authorities) on targets, requirements, and tradeoffs regarding concepts of microtransactions. - Experimental results that prove the feasibility of decentralized systems for microtransactions. - Dialog and communication to promote Swedish R&D. Results: - At least two academic publications. - A "proof of concept" (PoC) validating essential functions and cyber security. - Measurement results using PoC to establish performance, scalability, and resource efficiency.

Planned approach and implementation

- June 2024: formulate concept and draft for first publication, to be a basis for further discussion and consensus around requirements, targets, and tradeoffs with external parties. - August 2024: meeting/workshop between project parties - project meetings every two weeks - 2024: publish article - 2024 Q4: licentiate thesis including concept - 2024: Master thesis on the PoC (prel) - 2025: Q1-Q2, discussion with external parties and adaptation of objective - 2025: Q3-Q4 experimental evaluation, a second publication submitted for assessment - 2026: dissemination and impact analysis
